The first travel memories I really have here at Stardust and Stamps Travel are Disney trips. I remember that first trip as a little girl and being in awe of Cinderella's Castle but then telling my mom I wanted to go home as soon as the villains appeared on the castle stage. I remember the trips becoming an every other year thing for a few years and constantly asking my mom if she had started the planning for the next trip yet.
There were a few multi-year breaks where I was unable to go to Disney - high school, college - and as soon as that first realization that I was going back would hit, I would be overcome with excitement and joy. I could not wait to be back in the Disney bubble; it wasn't until a few years later I fully understood why.
Disney for me has always been a place where the "real world" didn't exist. It wasn't until adulthood and specifically the last few years that I realized just how much I needed that place. I needed the place I could go and just "turn my brain off", not worry about what was going to happen the next day or what I needed to get done at work or in my personal life. I needed somewhere I could go and feel like that little girl again, feel like everything was going to be alright and that not everything in life had to be so serious.
Disney has been my safe space, my happy place. It's been a place I have been able to connect with my mom and really spend time together. It's the place I want to take everyone I love at some point so that they can be in that happy place and mindset with me, and when I realized that, I realized I really wanted EVERYONE to experience that feeling when they are at Disney. I want people to go on trips there and have that "brain break", have that time to connect with friends and family members, and have those memories that provide just a little comfort in this crazy world.
